Sky A The Great Band Of Thieves- Chapter 5. ''Realisation''
This chapter is read in the view of Sky, to allow the reader to understand his feelings.</b>
I was awoken to the soft patter of rain and the cold embrace of slowly liquidating mud. I had been left for dead by the executioner, obviously thinking I would die slowly and painfully of blood-loss from my injuries.
Balls to him, Of course that couldn't kill me. Of all things that I have gone through and someone suspects a mere flesh-wound would bring me down. Hah! I staggered out of the ditch they left me in, I crawled into the middle of the road and let the rain wash the blood from my body. This reminds me of that one poem; Dulce et decorum est where the poet describes the soldiers as blood-shod. But I had little time to reminisce of the days when I could read carelessly. I was abruptly and rudely interrupted by a driver, who had stopped at me and decided it was in my best interest that I should be shouted at.
''Get out of the road, ya bum!'' He called to me, usually I would add another head to my count at this but I had been disarmed and was extremely tired. I hobbled out of the drivers way and the driver found it amusing to open his door and hit me with it as he went past, at this I began to fade again, back to sleep...
---
''Oh for the love of god, shut the fuck up! I've had enough of you and your complaining!'' He would shout.
''My complaining?! What about your fucking complaining! I never hear the last of it around here!'' She would reply.
My parents were not in a bad relationship, they loved eachother. But it was just the normal annual argument between them, I guess a couple has to vent their feelings occasionally. When I was young I would always assume that this was the final straw and they'd end up breaking up or something, I would just hide away in my room and hold that bear...Mr.Pads, I made a promise to keep it with me...
---
''You still fantasising about that bear? Get over it, saddo.'' That voice, it taunts me so, I wish I could kill it but...no...Sly.
''I...made a promise, to keep it. I promised...'' I held my head, it was throbbing with pain.
''People break promises, get over, geez.'' He replied, casually and confidently.
''But...''
''Shut up''
''Yeah, you're right.'' I groggily got up and dusted myself off, as I attempted to take my first step I collapsed, my ankle was still in a bad way.
''Ngh, little help?''
''Yeah, right, what am I gonna do, magic you up a wheelchair? its possible but I'd rather watch you suffer.''
''Yeah, love you too.'' I searched for something to take the weight off my leg, I spotted a plank of wood and decided to use it a crutch.
''well aren't you resourceful'' It sneered at me. No sympathy, No empathy, Nothing at all.
I said nothing more and began to limp towards the nearest city.
